Where the five benches are located
The name Five Benches quite literally derives from the location of 5 benches on the mountain overlooking the small hill town Shimla in Northern India. The benches surrounded by deodars and pines exemplify the ecological, cultural and historic identity of the town. These benches served as a point from where to view the vast swathe of the deodar forests around the city. It also marks a resting place for travellers trekking up to the Jakhu temple and looks out to the imposing Christ Church that is the centre piece of the town.
